Whilst the children are getting stuck into their keyboard skills, Davide and his team of entrepid builders are busy at work putting the finishing touches to the toilet and shower block at the Maison Kimbilio site. They have completed the hand dug sceptic tank and are currently laying down a mosaic tiled floor in the shower cubicles. They should be finishing off with this task in the next couple of weeks and then we are hoping to move on to work on the Josue Manda House, the first house for the children. I would really like to get this building completed so that the children can be installed in their new place before I return to the UK later in the year for a few months. However, we are running rather low on funding at the moment, building in Congo is expensive, mainly due to the fact alot of the materials such as cement are imported. We would really appreciate as much support as possible with finding these funds. If anyone is interested in helping please do get in touch and I can give you more details. You may also support Kimbilio by sponsoring Zoe Rew a friend who is running the London Marathon on the 17th April in support of Kimbilio http://www.justgiving.com/Zoe-Rew. Zoe's grandparents worked alongside my Aunt at Katoka for many years, Zoe and her boyfriend Michael made a real connection with the Kimbilio community when they visited last year. Thanks Zoe!
