It's not just Kimbilio who have been progressing in Lubumbashi, the last few months have seen an increasing number of city centre roads being tarmacked. This is a fantastic improvement and is making an incredible difference to the ease of getting about the city. The only concern is that drivers previously forced to drive slowly due to the huge potholes are now able to put their foot down. In a country where you can buy your driving licence without passing a test this is a concern and perhaps contributed to an incident last week when a taxi driving on the wrong side of the road at a crazy speed drove into me scraping the car all down one side! Exactly the same thing happened to a friend of mine in the same spot 30 minutes later! At least no one was hurt but sadly this is not always the case.
